Finished hand printed cushions – first attempt
So on a rainy day a few weeks backs I took over the wheelhouse and spread my paints and fabrics all around. I spent hours printing fabrics, some silk, some brushed cotton and some linen. The silk and the brushed cotton worked the best so I decided to make them into cushions….
Here they are!
FABRIC PRINTING
A few weeks ago I came across a wonderful book about the ancient art of fabric printing. This spurred me into an epic search for some beautifully hand carved printing blocks and yes! i found some on one of my favourite websites – Etsy.
They arrived safe and sound and I couldn’t resist getting stuck in, so I found a spot in the wheelhouse (Yes I live on a boat, and a wonderful boat she is!) and this is the outcome of that very rainy day last weekend….
Looking forward to making some bags, pillows, and cushions out of these!
LITTLE LINEN TOP
Happy bank holiday folks! Yes it is nearly over but the sun will shine another day.
Well today has been a mix of many things, it started of with a big family breakfast in the baking sunshine filling our tums with fresh baked bread, scrambled eggs, beans, veggie sausages, grilled tomatoes, fresh ice cold orange juice, melon, coffee and tea! Boy it was good!! It was a bit of a struggle to venture into the workroom after that but as I had already decided not to do any work today but to spend 2 hours playing, it wasn’t so bad… So this is what i made….
A delicate linen and lace tunic vest top. It needs some minor alterations but I think it was quite a successful day in the office.
After this i went home and played in the potting shed, potting up many baby plants getting them ready for the big wide world. Maybe should of put on some sun cream tho… whoops!
APPLIQUED CUSHIONS – FOR SALE!
So on Monday last week I decided to put my work to one side and instead I was going to make a couple of my applique cushions. Well a couple turned into a whole bunch and I ended up doing these for most of the week! Well who could blame me when I had two loose covers to make! Look out for them on Etsy.
Here they are…
